How to use this escape room waiver

Escape rooms are physically low risk and psychologically higher risk than operators expect. The claims that surface involve claustrophobia and panic in a dark, confined space, trips over set pieces in low light, and startle reactions to actors or effects.

Your waiver should say plainly that participants can leave at any time and how they signal for help. That single clause defuses most distress complaints, because the participant agreed in advance that exit was always available.

Escape rooms are also the one vertical where confidentiality genuinely belongs in the form. A short non-disclosure clause protects the puzzle designs you spent months building.

    Before you use it

    • State clearly that participants can leave at any time and how to signal.
    • Add a short confidentiality clause to protect your puzzle designs.
    • Flag effects such as fog, strobes, or actor contact before booking, not on arrival.
